Training Programs
Mastery is a lifelong process, always evolving, never complete. We believe we learn as much through teaching as our students. Your questions and problems drive us to search out the latest and most effective answers to the medical problems facing the industrial insurance community. We are delighted to offer a range of courses from understanding IME’s to AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, fifth edition and sixth editions ratings courses
Medical information is a constantly changing landscape. New methodologies, studies and legal decisions can have a huge impact on what, only recently, was accepted — but has now changed. We update our courses constantly with the most current medical and legal information available and we train continuously to ensure that the courses we offer are as timely and effective as possible. This means each course is new approximately every six months! So, we encourage you to take advantage of our courses annually.
Continuing Education
We offer two types of training, State of Washington, Department of Labor & Industries accredited continuing education for claims examiners and informational presentations to enhance your knowledge that do not carry CE credit. We are delighted to create presentations and submit them for accreditation based on your specific needs, for example the issues surrounding carpal tunnel syndrome or occupational disease. We will need approximately ninety (90) days to create a requested directed training.
Informational Seminars
We currently offer several information seminars on a variety of topics. These are designed to help you hone skills and develop strategies that are not necessarily “new” information, but can help you improve your independent medical evaluation experience. These include effective assignment letter writing, how and when to order an IME, how to read an IME report and how to write an effective addendum. We also have a presentation that walks you through what happens (or should be happening!) inside the IME provider’s offices when the assignment is “out of your sight”. This helps you understand your process and effectively understand what is happening when you order an IME.
Impairment
Rating & Medicine
The AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, fifth and sixth editions, are minefields of misunderstanding, confusion and frustration. Our CE accredited courses not only help you navigate these minefields, but empower you to proof ratings with effective “benching” skills. We train you to KNOW when a rating is correct and when the examination itself supports
